About

With a passion for pairing beautifully crafted materials and furnishings with refined architecture, Carole Freehauf creates interiors that are distinguished by their ease, elegance and attention to detail. Completed residences include historic townhouses, suburban family homes, and coastal retreats.

Freehauf began her career in communications design, working in Boston and Manhattan as a creative director with high-profile brands such as Tiffany and Co., Reebok and Sappi. Since establishing Carole Freehauf Design in 2004, projects have ranged in scope from the extensive restoration of 19th century brownstones, to the design and decoration of individual rooms.

Carole has appeared as a design correspondent on the Emmy award-winning program This Old House, and her interiors have been published in a number of publications. She earned her BFA in Communications Design from Syracuse University. Her lifelong interests in the arts, history, travel, food, materials and handmade traditions are constant sources of reference and inspiration.
